農薬や肥料に頼らず耕された畑で、土の力を生かしながら綿を育てること。季節の移ろいに合わせて大地と向き合い、ひとつひとつ丁寧に綿を摘むこと。
そうして収穫された綿は、ガラ紡や手紡ぎによって糸へと姿を変えます。
複雑な工程を重ねて均一さを追求する機械紡績とは異なり、私たちの糸づくりは工程をぐっと減らしています。だからこそ、綿が本来持っている自然の力を、そのまま糸に込めることができます。その糸が布へと仕立てられるとき、自然の風合いはさらに豊かに広がります。
完璧さよりも、自然のゆらぎを美しさと捉えること。それが、益久のモノづくりの姿勢です。

Craft without excess.
It is what we value in every step of making.
Growing cotton in fields cultivated without pesticides or fertilizers, letting the soil’s strength do its work.Facing the seasons as they change, and picking each boll of cotton carefully by hand.
The harvested cotton is then spun into yarn through Gara-bou or hand spinning.Unlike machine spinning, which pursues uniformity through countless processes, our way reduces the steps to the essentials.This simplicity allows the cotton’s natural strength to flow directly into the yarn.
When that yarn is woven into cloth, its gentle irregularities and natural texture deepen into richness.We see beauty not in perfection, but in the subtle variations given by nature.That is the spirit of Masuhisa’s craft.

私たちと中国、
工房ができるまでの物語。
中国・山東省の農村に、私たちの綿花畑と工房があります。
ここでは、益久染織研究所の指導のもと、綿づくりから製品づくりまでを一貫して、ひとつひとつ手作業で丁寧に仕上げています。
「中国製」というだけで敬遠されることもありますが、私たちがどのように中国と出会い、この地に工房をつくったのか。その背景と、ものづくりの歩みをお伝えします。
Our Story with China — How Our Workshop Was Born
In a rural village of Shandong, China, we have our own cotton fields and workshop. Under the guidance of Mikusu Dyeing & Weaving Research Institute, we carefully handcraft each piece — from growing the cotton to making the final products.
While “Made in China” is often met with skepticism, we want to share how we encountered China and how our workshop came to life in this land. This is the story behind our partnership and the path of our craftsmanship.
